JANET CASEY – ARTIST

Janet is a self-taught Artist and works with a variety of mediums – mostly recycled. Janet has magpie tendencies and loves collecting bits and bobs everywhere she goes that end up in her wooden assemblages and art pieces or stored for later projects!
Inspiration is drawn from her local beach environment, nature and travel around Aotearoa (NZ).

Janet's Art journey started with mosaics and she attended several mosaic training workshops run in Taupo before running her own mosaic workshops in Ohope for over two years. She sold her mosaic artwork throughout local art galleries in the Central North Island and was contracted to do all the beach access mosaic Pohutukawa flower inserts that are part of the beach access points along Pohutukawa Avenue & Harbour Road in Ohope Beach.

About 8 years ago while Janet was on a trip with a friend, she saw lots of beautiful old beehives and native wood being thrown away so it was loaded onto the back of the ute and taken home! This prompted a change of mediums and she started creating wooden assemblages and wooden art pieces which she sold through local galleries in Whakatane & Ohope.

Janet is currently selling her "Week of Kisses", "Week of Love" and "Boatshed" series through the Artshed in Hawkes Bay as well as a small collection of her art in a Gallery in Tekapo.

All her pieces of art are unique and made with a passion for someone else to purchase for themselves to enjoy or as a gift to share with friends and family.
